Hospital Board Names Joyce Beck New CEO
In a public meeting on Monday evening the St. Vincent Hospital Board voted to offer Joyce Beck the position of permanent Chief Executive Oifficer (CEO).
Beck interviewed at the hospital on March 28. During that time, she also met with community members, Board members and hospital staff. On Friday, March 29 Beck was named as a finalist for CEO.
Board Chairperson Nancy Boeve stated, “I look forward to Joyce Beck’s proven approach as an open communicator with staff, customers and the community. She also has excelled in the areas of fundraising, Information Technology and EMR (electronic medical records). She’ll be able to keep our efforts moving along to achieve the various phases of EMR for which the hospital receives federal reimbursement.”
The offer of employment was made to Beck by Mike Mullins of Quorum Healthcare (QHR), St. Vincent Hospital’s Management Group. Under the management agreement the hospital’s CEO and CFO (Chief Financial Officer) are employed by QHR. Beck accepted the position and started work immediately on Wednesday, April 17. The outgoing interim CEO, George Rohrich, will remain at the hospital until Friday, April 19 to assist with the transition.
“By partnering with the Hospital Board and the talented, enthusiastic staff, I am confident we will create outstanding results. The people I met when I visited Leadville and St. Vincent Hospital are so memorable in their commitment and community involvement, I was very impressed,” Beck stated.
Beck hails from Nebraska where she most recently was CEO of Thayer County Health Services, a small hospital and network of medical clinics in rural Nebraska. She has been in healthcare in Nebraska for 41 years, first as a CNA and LPN. For the past 19 years has been in health care administration both long term care and acute care. Beck holds a Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration from Bellevue University.
