Latest News – Happy July 4th!

Leadville’s July 4th Celebration.

July 4 – Leadville’s known for being fiercely independent, and for its ability to throw a good party, so let’s bring on the 4th of July!

No more whining about the fireworks ban or the restrictions on campfires. And if you think that you won’t get caught shooting off fireworks or that a little fire in your backyard pit is okay, BE ADVISED that there is a zero tolerance from law enforcement – no warnings, just tickets.

That said, lets focus on what IS going on in Leadville this 4th of July!

Leadville’s 23rd Annual Firecracker 5k Race

Leadville’s 23rd Annual Firecracker 5k starts at 9 a.m.

The only thing that should be on-fire this 4th of July, is YOU as you race in  Leadville’s 23rd Annual Firecracker 5k Race.

Ladies Liberty: How far is a 5k? Three and a half miles!

Reg. begins at 8 a.m. on courthouse lawn. Race starts at 9 a.m. Awards after parade at 10:30 a.m. Entry fee $15.

Leadville’s 4th of July Parade Sponsored by the Leadville Chamber of Commerce.

Bake Sale to Benefit Youth Programs

Some local youth will also be having a bake sale in the tent on the courthouse lawn to raise some money for some Youth Activities during Boom Days. So after you’ve burned some calories running the 5k, stop and pick up some homemade goodies.

PARADE @ 10 a.m.

Did you know that Leadville has the most number of Parades (per capita) in the United States? We LOVE parades! And Fourth of July is generally a spectacular display of red, white and blue marching down Harrison Avenue. Sponsored by the Leadville/Lake County Chamber of Commerce, the parade starts at 10 a.m.

So head downtown, grab some breakfast in any one of Leadville’s fine eating establishments, and then stake out a good parade spot! Or if you want to march, just show up at the top of capitol hill and talk to Heather from the Chamber.

Leadville/Lake County Fire Station BBQ

Is this the place with the 2-alarm chili? Definitely some great BBQ!

After the Paarde, stop in at the Fire House, tell the guys what a great job they’re doing protecting our community and then get a bite to eat at their annual July 4th BBQ.

Airport Community BBQ

When was the last time you were up at the Leadville/Lake County Airport?  Well, if it’s been since last year’s July 4th Community BBQ, then you’ll be pleasantly surpirsed at all of the changes at North Amercia’s Highest Airport. And you can check it all out at the FREE Annual Airport Community BBQ from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Bring your appetite and some patience – the lines will be long, but the food will be good!

Happy 4th of July Leadville!

Stay Safe!

Have Fun!
