Stay Local with Lots to Choose from this Weekend!

The forecast calls for snow this weekend –  a welcome sight, especially at this point in the high country season. It’s also going to be a good weekend to get out and enjoy some local entertainment and fun while not having to drive more than a few blocks. So make your plans and show your support for Leadville/Lake County.

Tonight Author David Mason will be at Timberline (Leadville) Colorado Mountain College (CMC) to discuss his book “Ludlow” about the Coronado Mine strike in 1896. For more information see the notice below or call 719-486-4207.

Friday night there’s a few events to choose from so mix and match and consider attending more than one. The SOS Outreach annual fundraiser will be held at West Park Elementary. Good food, games and prizes. So get out there and do some early Christmas shopping with great silent auction goodies and help support the local Learn to Ski program.

The Lake County High School Drama Club will be presenting three, one act plays on Friday night, with two shows on Saturday. This group of local thespians has been working diligently for these performances, so why not bundle up the younger kids and show them what LIVE theater looks like! Remember one day it will be their turn to be on stage with the hope for a hearty audience. See the flyer below for times and ticket prices.

If you’re in the mood for Friday dinner and a movie night, head on up to CMC for a FREE movie with a delicious  afford ably priced dinner to boot. If you’ve never grabbed a meal at the college’s Coronado Café, you’ll be more than pleasantly surprised. Chef Greg Atkinson never disappoints and you’ll find yourself saying “this is school food?”

So as the snow (hopefully) starts to pile up, remember you don’t have to go much further than a few blocks to support local organizations and institutions to have fun!
