Hospital Foundation Receives Safeway Grant
It is estimated that over 500 women per year travel out of Leadville for Digital Mammography, according to St. Vincent Hospital (SVH) Community Relations Coordinator Karen Rinehart. While Digital Mammography is the norm in breast imaging today and provides superior images while offering lower exposure to radiation.
As is the current practice at St. Vincent’s Imaging Department, all Mammogram images are read by Dr. Ugale of Diversified radiology at Sonnenalp Breast Center in Edwards, Colo.
The SVH Foundation is hoping to change that, and is actively raising funds to purchase new or “like new” refurbished digital machines to provide a convenient solution that also provides state-of-the-art-images.
Last month, the Safeway Foundation presented the SVH Foundation a $10,000 check toward their efforts to purchase Digital Mammography at St. Vincent Hospital.Representatives from The Safeway Foundation present a $10,000 check to St. Vincent Hospital Foundation.
