Mining – that’s really what it’s all about in Leadville. It’s why the city was established. It’s a big part of today’s local economy. So it’s no surprise that it’s the Mining Events that real draw the crowds during Boom Days.

For miners, the competition provides an opportunity to show off skills. Participants come from all across the region. For the spectators, the “games” can seem a bit confsuing . . . what are they doing? What do they call that?
