Plenty of Good Fishing Left in Season!
The weather is still good in the high country, with warm days and cooler nights. Take advantage of the quieter fishing season, as the kids get back to school and families get back into their routines. Here’s Tim with Colorado Fly Fishing Guides, right here in Leadville, with the lastest fishing report. Hint: Be sure to check out the Labor Day discounts offered at the end of Tim’s report!
Upper Arkansas River (Between Leadville and Buena Vista)
The Upper Arkansas River Aquatic Habitat Enhancement Project is taking place in the State Trust Land, the Reddy Easement, and Hayden Meadows for the duration of the season. It is important to note that this project does affect water clarity to varying degrees throughout the day. Areas above the Lake Creek confluence are best fished early or in the evenings, and they do not work in the river on weekends.
Despite the restorative effort affecting clarity, lower flows have the entire headwaters totally accessible for the walk/wade angler and the fishing remains great. Fish are still looking up for Hoppers and PMD and there are still some dwindling caddis and yellow sally as well, so dry/dropper rigs are taking fish regularly. Nymph rigs with small stones and PMD emergers are proving successful early when the fish are not rising.
Take a Trip Up Mosquito Pass, If You Haven’t Already!
But sometime it’s hard to know how to use these media platfroms. How do you tweet about your construction business? And what’s so exciting about a You Tube video for the local dentist? Well, here’s an example of how Grand West Village Resorts got it right. They’ve been putting together a series of videos on their You Tube Channel that shows their staff summiting area mountains! Perfect! Something people want to watch and while you have their attention – promote the business. Enjoy!
