Third Pedal Power Snowshoe Race Tomorrow
“The more people we get, the greater the benefit to the charities we work with in Lake and Eagle Counties. That’s been our mission all along…to do anything we can to help,” said race organizer Bruce Kelly in regard to tomorrow’s (third) race in the Pedal Power Snowshoe Adventure Series.
The Pazzo’s/K.O. Eagle-Vail Holiday 5K/10K, will take place Saturday, Dec. 21 at 10 a.m. Racers will meet prior to the start at the Eagle-Vail Pavilion located off of Highway 6 & 24 in Eagle-Vail.
The Pazzo’s snowshoe event takes place on a woodsy technical course with short steep ‘ups’ and fast ‘downs’ through the trees. According to race organizer Bruce Kelly, it is consistently one of the most popular events of the series. “Each year this race brings us a little bit closer to hitting the 100 participant level. Our goal this year is to hit and even eclipse that level.”
The Pedal Power Snowshoe Adventure Series consists of 7 events held around the region, including the Colorado State Championship. These high-profile races, along with Pedal Power’s reputation for providing great course venues and the high caliber of competition, have made the series one of the top events in the region.
Registration for tomorrow’s race is $20. Participants can save time by pre-registering directly online at pedalpowerbike.com. You can also register with forms from Pedal Power Bicycle Shop in Eagle-Vail or by calling 970-845-0931. Registration is also possible for $25 on the day of the event at the race start.
This year, the series will include a snowshoe, snow bike and nordic skiing events as well as a comprehensive be a Winter Triathlon with ecncompasses all three diciplines.
The next event in the Winter Race Series will be the Pedal Power Winter Mountain Bike Race. That race will take place on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 10 a.m. at the Tennessee Pass Nordic Center at Ski Cooper.
