New Places, New Faces in Leadville & Lake County Biz
The New Year brings some changes in management for several Leadville and Lake County businesses. So here’s the scoop on who’s in charge, where:
The Twin Lakes Inn
Congratulations to Chef Matt Roberts, the historic Twin Lakes Inn announced via its Facebook Page on Jan. 9.
Roberts is the new General Manager at The Twin Lakes Inn. Chef Matt tallied rave reviews on his culinary prowess in 2013 as the lodge’s Dayton Dining Room Executive Chef, a position he will maintain in addition to his new role as GM. He will have some help in the kitchen as the team welcomes Sous Chef Sean Gore.
Andy Kapustensky has been promoted to manager. Kapustensky was the airport’s Asst. Manager since May 2012, under former airport manager Mike Huemann who left the position in early December for a job in an unrelated field. Kapustensky’s promotion allows for a seamless operations transition at America’s Highest Airport.
“My goal is for operations not to skip a beat,” says Kapustensky who explains that he and Huemann had a great working relationship and that he hopes his new team, which should be in place before the busy summer season, will be the same. Andy has a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation/Airway Management and Operations from Metropolitan State University in Denver.
At present, Andy’s former assistant position is being filled on a part time basis by Sean Jones, who is also a wildland firefighter.
And while it may be the “slow” season, things are still happening in the skies above Leadville as the military begins their high altitude training after a break during the hunting and holiday seasons. Kapustensky is quick to remind local residents that these military training operations do pump money into the local economy in the form of aircraft fuel and food eaten in local restaurants when the troops take a break from training operations.
Hospital Home Oxygen Has New Director
In the final weeks of 2013, St. Vincent Hospital welcomed Lori Tackett, RRT. Tackett was hired as Respiratory Therapy and Home Oxygen Director.
Raised in southwest Iowa, Tackett lived in the Ft. Collins, Colorado area for 25 years before work and marriage took her away from Colorado. “I was very homesick and I am so happy to find myself in Leadville,” said Tackett. Tackett’s background in Respiratory Therapy is mostly critical and intensive care and trauma, she has also taught Respiratory Therapy, and worked as an Organ Recovery Coordinator.
For the last 4 years Tackett was a flight Respiratory Therapist doing long distance air ambulance med-evac transports. She commented, “I am glad to be here in Leadville, with both feet on the ground, and sleeping in my own bed every night, I am duly happy to work with the skilled clinical staff at St. Vincent Hospital, this team is one I wanted to join!”
St. Vincent Hospital Respiratory Therapy and Home Oxygen department provides inpatient and emergency respiratory therapies as well as outpatient pulmonary function testing and sleep studies. The home oxygen department provides the community with setup and delivery of oxygen concentrators and portable systems, home nebulizers, and pulse oximetry.
Moving forward, Tackett said she plans to “deliver excellent, compassionate, quality care to the hospital’s inpatient, outpatient and home oxygen customers.”
