This day-long event will feature three, size-division (under 800cc, 800 & up, and pro modified classes) snowmobile drag races right on the ninth hole of the golf course. The contest will be limited to 64 contestants with a double elimination component.

After the top paid competitors drag it out on the course, the group will be allowing some “Fun Runs,” so that everyone can get in on the action! The top prize for these runs? Bragging rights among friends!

No doubt, folks will be working up an appetite, but not to worry breakfast & lunch will be available out at the golf course provided by “Cookies with Altitude.”  Snacks and beverages will also be available. SnowDrags

The High Riders Snowmobile Club also wanted folks to know that if they have snowmobile related “For Sale” items – sleds, trailers, etc. you can bring them to the parking area for some high-altitude  bartering.

Registration starts at 9 a.m. at the golf course, with races starting at 11 a.m. For more details, visit their website: LINK.

The Inaugural High Altitude Snowmobile Drags should be a fun, action-packed good time, so if you’re interested in supporting some new winter events and want to donate some time of resources, you can contact the club’s Community Affairs Chairman Tom Driemeyer  at or 970-389-6123. Or just show up out at the golf course on Saturday morning. Get those sleds revved up and get out there! Obit_Spacer_Thin

Leadville Picker Partys on Tap for Popular TV Show

You must be living under the proverbial rock if you haven’t heard by now that the Leadville episode of the popular TV series “American Pickers” is scheduled to air TOMORROW Wednesday, Feb. 5 on the History Channel. The show is titled “Mountain Mayhem,” no doubt an ode to the crew’s trek over Independence Pass during an early Fall snowstorm en route to Leadville. You can check out the video promo HERE.Pickers_video_Link

Once they arrived in the Cloud City, the show’s stars Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz met up with Leadville stars and owners of the historic Tabor Opera House, Bill and Sharon Bland and went pickin’ for treasures. Word on the street is that they found some good stuff, but you didn’t hear it from The Blands who signed a confidentiality agreement with the show to not spill the beans before the episode airs. So the wait is over, tune in tomorrow and find out what the pair discovered in the Leadville “Honey Holes!”
