Local Restaurants to Receive Awards On Monday

Did you know that 13 Lake County establishments will be getting Excellence in Food Safety Awards next Monday? And there are six businesses who will be awarded Honorable Mention having had only 1 non-critical violation during the health inspection year July 1, 2012 – June 30, 2013.

This is good news for a community that tends to gripe about its eating establishments – either the lack of them or consistency with food quality. So why not come out and celebrate the successes?!

These awards will be presented next Monday, Feb. 24  at the Lake County Retail Food Meeting to be held at the CMC cafeteria bldg. room 701 from 10 – 11 a.m..   The meeting will be facilitated by Jackie Littlepage, Director of Environmental Health/Health Inspector. It’s an opportunity for owners, managers and employees to come together, celebrate their successes, receive awards for ZERO health violations, as well as discuss ongoing challenges.

The meeting is open to all licensed retail food establishments, owners, managers and staff. Anyone interested in opening a retail food establishment and other interested persons should consider attending as well.

Honestly, it sounds like a good opportunity to be positive, re-establish  some  local pride and address concerns BEFORE the busy summer season. Hope to see you there!
