SMRCC Has Folks Climbing the Walls This Friday
When it comes to acronyms, Leadville has no shortage: MBT, BOCC, LCHS and the LC&SR, to name a few But this one’s likely to get you attention once it’s name is spelled out: The Scrimpin Marmots Rock Climbing Club (SMRCC). And this Friday, Feb. 28 they are sponsoring a rock climbing competition at Colorado Mountain College in Leadville. The contest is open to all CMC students and Leadville Community members . There will be a mens, womens and kids category competing for bragging rights, prizes and swag from sponsors.
All skill levels and ages welcome. Or just come to watch and join in the fun!
There was quite a bit of activity at 615 Harrison Avenue over the weekend as construction crews continued with the demolition work on the old Sayer & McKee Building.
Here’s a video interview with Joe Weinmeister, V. P. of Marketing and Sales for KW Restoration and Construction of Leadville. It includes video footage of the last part of the front wall of the iconic building, which housed fond memories for many locals.
