Spring Break: Music to Your Ears!
Lead Vegas! Have you ever heard Leadville called Lead Vegas and wondered why? Well, all you need to do is stand at the top of Capitol Hill at night and watch the glow of Harrison Avenue to appreciate the Las Vegas reference.
Lead Vegas is also a throwback to the most recent heyday boom time of the late 70s/early 80s here in Leadville. Back then, there were more bars than churches and the nightlife and live music spilled out on to the streets from nearly every other doorway on Leadville’s main drag.
So as an Ode to Lead Vegas, here’s a lineup of some live music and entertainment happening during this Spring Break season – get out there and have some fun! Viva Lead Vegas!
Tunes to Ski By or Apres Ski Cooper
Ski Cooper has once again made a true commitment to live music this season. They’ve got quite an Apres Ski $30 Thursday line up between now and the end of the season. The fun continues this afternoon at 3 p.m. with Leadville’s Carey Nall. Nall is a popular Leadville singer and songwriter who always draws in the local crowd, whether they’re skiing or not. Nall should get the house swaying!
Here’s a Video of Carey’s Music:
Publisher’s note: If you can’t make Nall’s performance today, then be sure to mark the calendar for Saturday March 22 when Nall returns with Dave Recker as The Cloud City Fatties. Not only will this be a great afternoon of music from 3 – 5 p.m., but you’re likely to see every dirty old Leadville hippie from the 90s in the place. Of course, they’re all cleaned up with families of their own no, but no doubt they’ll be there to support this duo! Bring on the dreadlocks and broom skirts!
Things Heat Up with a Funky Get Down at The Scarlet
If you’re looking for something maybe a bit closer to home, then The Scarlet can help get those toes a tapping. This Friday, March 14 their “2014 Spring Break” begins with the debut of Fort Collins’ orginal Jo(h)nband, putting out an Alternative Funk and Rock sound starting at 10 p.m. No Cover.
