Top ‘O The World to You, Leadville!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Tomorrow might be a Monday, but it’s also St. Patrick’s Day which means Leadville will be celebrating the day of the Irish in its own special way.

Looks like the weather will be fine for the parade at 4:30 p.m. Everyone welcome!

The Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will start at the top of capital hill at 4:30. Everyone is welcome to march. The group will gather in front of the Mining Museum on West 9th Street a bit after four o’clock in the afternoon. Wear your green and bring some candy to throw to the kids, if you’re so inclined.

Are you hankering for the traditional corned beef and cabbage, then the historic Silver Dollar Saloon is the place to be. The Leadville Lions Club will be serving up corned beef and cabbage from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. They’ll be charging $10 a plate and no doubt you’ll get your fill, but also leave enough room for a Guinness or two! All proceeds from the food goes toward local Leadville Lions projects and programs.

Just a couple doors north Two Guns Distillery will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in their own special way with some creative cocktails and live music. After the Parade, the Dead Ringers will be entertaining the crowds with some bluegrass and good ole Grateful Dead covers. O’Jerry!

Later on, the live music will continue across the avenue on the southeast corner of 4th & Harrison at The Scarlet. Of course Chuck and the gang will be serving Guinness, Jameson, Irish Cream and 12 lines of your favorite beer on tap all day, but be sure to check out their nighttime music with some New Orleans entertainment starting at 8 p.m. scarletThe Black Resonators describe themselves as a “pumping dancy jazz, afro-polka rap and tango quartet.” Wow! They might not be exactly Irish, but I bet their tunes get you up on your feet, doing a jig!

So there you have it, the Leadville line-up for St. Patrick’s Day, March 17. Make it a good one and remember don’t drink and drive, or you’ll be staying the night in O’Jail and spending O’ Lotta money, surely you’ve gotten the message by now!
