Cash Mob on Corner of 5th & Harrison This Saturday!

This Saturday, March 22 there will be a Cash Mob on the corner of 5th & Harrison Avenue in downtown Leadville.

Cash_MobWhat?! While many people have heard of a “Flash Mob” in which people start singing or dancing in an organized group at a set time, a Cash Mob involves SHOPPING.

The Western Hardware store will be the location for this Saturday's Cash Mob.

The Western Hardware store will be the location for this Saturday’s Cash Mob.

This month the efforts will be at Western Hardware and Antique Store located at 431 Harrison Ave., from any time between 2 – 5 p.m.

This store is one of Leadville’s most distinctive locally owned shops. Bruce and Hillery McCallister have cultivated this business for over 18 years. They have crafted it into far more than “just” a stellar antique store; look for handmade gifts, wonder at novel trinkets, peruse the vintage candy section (licorice pipes, bottle caps, pop rocks, jawbreakers, etc.), pick up some of Amanda’s Damn Good Salsa, and so much more.

According to Cash Mob organizers, the general idea is to encourage people to go into small, local businesses and spend their money, en masse, to give the business owner a bit of an economic stimulus.

There are three rules for a Cash Mob:

  • Spend $20 (suggested – you can spend more if you want).
  • Meet three people you didn’t know before.
  • HAVE FUN!!!
