Steampunk Could Peak in Popularity in The Cloud City
Have you heard about the new “it” thing? It’s Steampunk!
Some say it’s Mechanical meets Victorian. Wikipedia claims that “Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction that typically features steam-powered machinery, especially in a setting inspired by industrialized Western civilization during the 19th century. Steampunk works are often set in an alternative history of the 19th century’s British Victorian era or American “Wild West”, in a post-apocalyptic future during which steam power has regained mainstream use, or in a fantasy world that similarly employs steam power. “
No matter how you see it, it was only a matter of time before the growing trend would find its way to Leadville. And now is your chance to check it out at the Lake County Public Library on display though the end of his month. Or better yet, join other fans this Weds., June 25 for a special presentation by Stephanie Spong to learn more about Steampunk. Doors open at 6 p.m., program begins at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free, donations are welcome and support the Friends of the Lake County Library.
