The weekly organizers will host a fun and friendly evening for acoustic musicians and music-lovers of all skill levels starting at 7 p.m.  Admission is free.

Preceding the music event will be a Saloon Sashay, a rehearsal for Boom Days. Everyone is encouraged to get gussied up and promenade Leadville and stop to visit a watering hole or two before the music jam and sample the specialty of the house!

Let’s Do the Time Warp  . . . Again!

Need some cinematic inspiration to get you in the mood for all that live music? Then try the FREE Community Movie Night over At Ice Palace Park. Movies_July11 copyWhile most of the community movies are geared more toward the kiddos, this Friday, July 11 will feature a musical favorite: The Rocky Horror Picture Show! The movie starts at dusk (8:15ish?).

For those who don’t know, The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a 1975 musical comedy horror film that plays tribute to the science fiction and horror B movies of the late 1930s through early 1970s.

It stars Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick among many others. Now a cult classic, The Rocky Horror Picture Show was  largely ignored when it was first released, only to become a cult classic by gaining notoriety as a midnight movie, where members frequently talked back to the screen and began dressing as the characters in the film. It’s Rated R (restricted for anyone under 17 unless you have an adult or parent with you), so please leave the kids at home.
