Does Leadville Need A Dog Park? Meeting Tonight.

By Steve Whittington

Doesn’t Leadville deserve a dog park? A dog park would provide a place for dogs to run free for needed exercise. It would be a place where dogs and their people could mingle and socialize in friendly ways on neutral ground.

Denver, Breckenridge, and Buena Vista, just to mention a few places, have created dog parks to improve quality of life for their citizens and provide amenities for visitors. The parks are such attractive destinations that I have driven to them with my dogs so they can get off their leashes in a controlled environment.

County Commissioner Dolores Semsack asked me to gauge the level of community support for a dog park. As a step in that direction, I would like to invite interested citizens of Leadville and Lake County to gather and discuss the pros and cons of dog parks at 6 p.m. tonight, August 6 in room 401 of the Climax Building at Colorado Mountain College.Obit_Spacer_Thin

St. Vincent Hospital Online Patient Portal Now Available

St. Vincent Hospital inpatients and emergency room patients can now access their medical records through the hospital’s new online patient portal.

The patient portal is a secure website that is provided by the hospital’s electronic medical records. The portal allows patients to log in and view parts of their medical record. Registration is available to any patient who has an email address.  The hospital admissions desk and nursing department will help patients register for the portal.patient portal SVH

An added benefit to the portal is that a registered individual can view, print, download and transmit their medical record to a physician or medical practice all from their own computer.

Some of the inpatient and emergency room visit information that can be viewed includes, vital signs, lab results, radiology results, medications, and Plan of Care. The patient portal does not include outpatient visits at this point, but will in the near future.

Patient Portal registration is going on now at St. Vincent Hospital when a patient is admitted for an inpatient stay or emergency room visit. For more information call Allysha Moore, Clinical EMR Director at St. Vincent Hospital, 719-486-7156.
