Parade of Lights, Local Sales Saturday in Leadville
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere you go! And historic downtown Leadville is starting to don all its sparkle, as city maintenance crews have been busy putting up lights and decorations on the courthouse lawn, and snowflake lights on the lampposts up and down the avenue.
It’s time to celebrate the season! So plan on heading downtown tomorrow, Dec. 6 for the Leadville/Lake County Chamber of Commerce’s day of shopping, specials and festivities.
The day begins with Leadville’s version of Small Business Saturday. Local and regional shoppers can check things off their holiday shopping lists, while supporting Lake County businesses offering some great holiday deals.
In addition, chamber member businesses are participating in a scavenger hunt. At the end of the day, shoppers participating in the game will be eligible for prizes, including gift baskets with donated goods and valuable coupons from local businesses. Shoppers interested in participating in the scavenger hunt can pick up forms at the Visitor Center.
Then, to cap off a day of festive holiday shopping, the Leadville Parade of Lights sponsored by the Climax Molybdenum Mine, will begin rolling down Harrison Avenue at 5:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “A Caroling We Will Go!” with entrants picking their favorite Christmas carol and basing their float or parade entry on that carol. The competition has been growing in recent years, so who knows what they’ll come up with this year!
Santa and Mrs. Claus will also be listening to Christmas wish lists and taking pictures with children inside the courthouse after the parade. The Grill Bar & Café will be providing goodie bags and candy canes for the children. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served in front of the courthouse, hosted this year by Leadville Attorney Lindsey Parlin.
Please contact the Leadville/Lake County Chamber of Commerce at (719) 486-3900 with any questions on the Parade of Lights, business lighting contest, or holiday events.
