Sunday’s Calendar Reveals Lake County’s Beauty
The natural beauty surrounding Leadville and Lake County is stunning, which is why it’s always amazing that there aren’t a plethora of calendars highlighting each and every vista. But if you’ve got someone on your Christmas list, or maybe need a couple for your own walls at home, then this is the 2015 calendar for you.
Leadville photographer Steve Sunday is now offering his 2015 calendar. Sunday has lived in Leadville for years, raising his two daughters with wife Elise, and is one of the area’s most notable photographers.
No doubt, Lake County offers plenty of incredible scenery to choose from, but Sunday’s work shows his talent as a seasoned photographer and his ability to be in the right place, at the right time. Those high alpine vistas can now be yours – or the perfect holiday gift – in calendar form. They are available at Fire On the Mountain, the Leomyka Art Gallery or order directly from Steve himself. He’d be glad to mail orders directly to you, contact him at: SteveSundayPhoto@yahoo.com.
Art Gallery Plans Open House Events and Sales
Attention Art Lovers! Question: If you had the opportunity to show your support to Leadville and Lake County artists, invest in their creativity and help keep a Harrison Avenue business open, would you? The answer may come in the form of attendance and sales at several upcoming holiday events at the Leomyka Gallery, located on the corner of 6th and Harrison.
While the “seasonal closing” of the art gallery has been discussed in local arts community circles, it’s time for the public to know, and show their support for the downtown art gallery.
During the summer months the gallery thrives from the strong tourist influx, explained Marsha Carter with the Leadville Arts Coalition (LAC) at the recent Holidays Arts and Crafts Fair in Leadville. But the long winter months, like many downtown businesses, can often be a door-closer, with slow sales and low foot traffic.
The Leomyka Gallery is scheduled to close for the season on December 23. The details of re-opening for the summer season, finding a new tenant for the Harrison Ave prime retails space and possible new home for many Leadville artists represented at the local gallery, all are still unknown at this time. But maybe all that could change with upcoming series of Open Houses and holiday sales.
The Leadville Arts Coalition (LAC) and Leomyka Gallery invite the public to two Holiday Open House events this Friday and Saturday, Dec. 12-13, and then again on December 19 and 20. Food and beverages will be available from 3-7 p.m. on all four special evenings.
So plan on joining the LAC at 601 Harrison Avenue to celebrate the artists and artwork for a season-ending sale. Leomyka Gallery will take 10% off everything, and many artists will offer additional discounts from 10%-65%. These events are the public’s best opportunity to experience the wonderful local art, jewelry, and unique gifts featured at the gallery.
The Gallery would like to express our gratitude with a toast to the artists, The Leadville Arts Coalition, and our supporters on Friday, December 12 at 6 p.m.,” stated the gallery’s owner Bill Comcowich.
The Leadville Arts Coalition board will be co-hosting the four day event, and plan a special LAC Members Appreciation night on Friday, Dec. 19. LAC members will be able to win door prizes, generously donated by several gallery artists. To win, one must be a LAC member and attend one of these Open House events.
Leadville Arts Coalition yearly memberships range from $15/individual to $40/business; LAC membership information will be available during these Leomyka Open House events, or contact LAC at email@example.com.
