The Tennessee Pass 5-Miler Kickoff Classic is one of the oldest snowshoe races in the series, marking year 17 at last week’s race. But it never gets to be “old news” to report that Leadville local Mark “Smokey” Burgess took top honors with a finish time of 51:47.

A total of 33 racers shoed-up to the start line. In the men’s race, Jay Henry, of Eagle, took second (55:20) and Matt Johnson, also of Eagle, rounded out the podium in third with a time of 56:12.

The women’s top honors went to Katie Mazzia, Eagle, First Place (1:01:58); Sharon O’Grady, Vail, Second Place (1:03:39), and Gretchen Reeves, Avon, Third Place (.1:07:28). For Complete Results: LINK.
