“Mom has been the backbone of The Scarlet for going on 40 years now,” said owner Lee Trujillo. “Chuck and I have depended on her since we bought the bar back in March 2005.  She continues to be an integral part of our team holding down two of our busiest shifts, Sunday evenings and Monday days.”

So this Sunday, March 22, Chuck and Lee will be honoring her with a “Mom’s Roast,” complete with Emcee and Stand up Comic, Brandt Tobler, www.BrandtTobler.com. Tobler is traveling through Leadville while on his “Bad Decisions make great stories tour.”

The community is invited to join the celebration on from 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 22.  Surely you have a few stories yourself about Ma. Oh, if nothing else you can come and wish Ma a Happy Birthday, she turned 70 last Friday, March 13.Obit_Spacer_Thin

Leadville Community Movie Night continues this Friday, March 20 with the movie Frozen. frozenIt’s hard to believe there is anyone who hasn’t seen this Disney hit, but in case you’re one of those or like many people want to watch it again and agin and agin, then pack up the snacks and make a date.

Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Snow Queen, the film tells the story of a fearless princess who sets off on an epic journey alongside a rugged iceman, his loyal pet reindeer, and a naive snowman to find her estranged sister, whose icy powers have inadvertently trapped the kingdom in eternal winter.

Doors open at 8 p.m. up at the college gym. Admission is free. Movie goers are welcome to bring their own snacks and (non-alcoholic) beverages (no glass).
