Free Workshop for Employers About UI from CDLE
Are you an employer who has questions about Unemployment Insurance? After all, it’s that time of year when businesses go through seasonal lay-offs. Some pay out the insurance; why not learn as much as you can about this expense?
And if it seems that you are having a deja vu reading this, you could be. This informative, FREE Leadville Workforce Center workshop was originally scheduled for March 25. Unfortunately inclement weather combined with an I-70 closure had the state folks who were coming up to conduct the class, turning around at the tunnel. But these dedicated folks from the Colorado Dept. of Labor and Employment, Unemployment Division are going to try it again. This time, next Thursday, April 16 from 10 a.m. – noon, up at the college in the Climax Leadership Building.
Unemployment insurance supports Colorado’s economy by providing temporary partial wages to workers who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own. Colorado employers pay into the fund to help workers during periods of joblessness. The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment is launching a new program to help employers understand the ins and outs of our state’s unemployment insurance system.
The presentation will cover topics including:
- Correct wage reporting
- How premiums and benefits are calculated
- Accurate premium payments
- Using online tools to manage unemployment premium accounts
- Proper classification of workers as employees or independent contractors and understanding the unemployment insurance appeal process.
- Personalized response to your business’s individual questions and concerns.
