Spring Snow Storms Bring Big Snow To Mountains
This Wednesday, May 13, Representative Millie Hamner will officially wrap up the 2015 Colorado Legislative session with a special bill signing in Frisco, Colo. Governor John Hickenlooper will be up in the high country for the signing into law of HB15-1271 (Mobile Learning Labs).
According to Rep. Hamner, B15-1271 was a piece of the bipartisan “Colorado Ready to Work Package,” which will foster workforce development across the state. The signing will take place at 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday at ElevateCOSpace at 711 Granite Street in Frisco.
The 2015 Colorado Legislative session officially wrapped up last week. This year, Rep. Millie Hamner served on the Joint Budget Committee (JBC) which is given the responsibility to develop a budget for the state to operate under. Fortunately the group was able to complete the task. After all, it’s a constitutional requirement for the state legislature to pass a balanced budget.
Most relevant to local voters was the passage of HB-1060, which requires that defendants in sexual assault cases to appear before a judge prior to their release from jail on bond. The bill was sponsored by Rep. Millie Hamner, who also led the charge to pass Vonnie’s Law back in 2012.
