Legislative Success: Job Training On-The-Go Bill
Last Wednesday, May 13 Gov. John Hickenlooper was in the high country to sign a bill sponsored by Reps. Millie Hamner, D-Dillon, and Susan Lontine, D-Denver, to allow state funding for mobile learning labs in Colorado. Hamner represents Leadville and Lake County in Colorado House District 61.
A mobile learning lab provides on-the-job training for businesses whose employees would benefit from increased job skills and career development. HB15-1271 authorizes the Colorado Existing Industry Training Program to fund mobile learning labs statewide and is based on Pueblo Community College’s successful program that has provided training to nearly 6,000 Colorado workers since 2008.
“Mobile learning labs bring the classroom to the workplace and will help businesses across the state remain competitive and give employees the skills they need to advance in their careers,” Rep. Hamner said.
