While the scene out this morning’s window in Leadville Today is no indication that spring, much less summer, will ever arrive to The Cloud City, but it will. And with it comes a variety of fun-filled fundraisers for local charities and organizations. So be sure to take note of these, and then make plans to help put a little money into the pot of these non-profits!

Steampunk Fundraiser: June 6 at Mining Museum 

Steampunk Leadville, will kick off the summer season for National Mining Hall of Fame & Museum (NMHFM), with a progressive day /night benefit event on Saturday, June 6.NMHF_Steampunk flt

The day begins at 12:30 p.m. with a 1 p.m. departure on the Leadville Colorado & Southern Railroad for a scenic afternoon train ride.  Once the trains returns about 3 p.m., participants will disembark and head downtown for a mosey and some shopping.  At 5 p.m. the evening’s events – food, libations, Tesla Coil demonstrations and other entertainment – will begin at the Mining Museum.  The evening will finish off with a cash bar and the band Ye Ole Dirty Bastards performing in the convention center ballroom.

There are several ticket options for locals.  Early bird train/museum combo tickets are $40 if purchased by May 23, while museum only tickets are offered for locals at $25 if purchased by May 30.  While this is a themed event, costumes/dressing up is not required.  Tickets can be purchased online at www.mininghalloffame.org or by calling the museum at 719-486-1229.Obit_Spacer_Thin

All Aboard Fundraising for The Advocates, Lake County 

The Grapes and Grains on Rails fundraiser for the Advocates of Lake County is in its second year, and if the first “All Aboard” is any indication, this trip will sell-out. How can you go wrong when it’s good wine or beer and cruising on the Leadville train, taking in the evening sunset? This special “Local Libations on the Locomotive” scheduled for July 10, isn’t offered at any other time. Here are the details, including where you can buy tickets.

Enjoy a selection of Colorado wines and beer from Crazy Mountain Brewing Company, and hors d’oeuvres from Sodexo while taking an evening ride on the Leadville, Colorado and Southern Railroad. Tickets are $40 for adults which includes 2 drink tickets and $30 for children under 10. Boarding starts at 5:30 p.m. and the train leaves at 6 p.m. Reservations required. Hospital Foundation Thin Air Golf Tournament Returns

The St. Vincent Hospital Foundation’s annual Thin Air Golf Tournament fundraiser with will be held Friday, June 19. The tournament will be run in a 4-player team Scramble format. You can put your own team together or get matched up with other players. The return of this annual event last year was met with great success, so start putting your team together and stay tuned for more details, including a host of great prizes!
