Church News: From Meaning of Life to Bible School
Beginning Wednesday, June 24, the Cornerstone Church in Leadville will be offering an Alpha series at City on a Hill Coffee Shop from 7-8:30 p.m.
For readers who may not be familiar, Alpha is a chance for anyone to come explore and question the meaning of life. Over a series of about ten sessions, you’ll find out about the basics of the Christian faith. Each session involves a main talk (video) and some time to say and discuss what you think. It’s fun, relaxed and free, and you can ask anything you like. Refreshments and coffee will also be provided free of charge. Vacation Bible School For Children Runs July 6 – 19
Leadville’s Holy Family Parish will be offering its Vacation Bible School for all children ages 5 – 13. The two week summer program begins Monday, July 6 and runs through Sunday, July 19.
The program will meet from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the parish office, located next to Leadville’s historic Annunciation Church, 609 Poplar Street. Children can attend any or all of the days of the program.
The program includes studying some exciting stories from the Bible as well as food, activities, story-telling, games, songs and lots of fun!
For more information about this program or to register your child, please contact Reyna or Kathy in the parish office at 719-486-1382. They are also looking for additional volunteers to help with this large, engaging group of children. Whether it’s a day or week, more hands always help.
In other Holy Family Parish news, it was announced that Fr. Jesse Perez is being transferred to the Canon City parish, effective July 1.
A Farewell Dinner for Fr. Jesse is being planned for Friday, June 26 at The Eagles Lodge in 812 Hemlock Street in Leadville. For more information or to help with the dinner, please contact Kathy or Reyna at 719-486-1382.
Holy Family Parish offers the following Mass Schedule: Daily, Weds. Thru Saturday at 8 a.m. Saturday 4:30 p.m. (English) Sunday at 9 a.m. (English) and Noon (Spanish). Holy Days of Obligation at 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Mass is held at the following churches as follows St. Joseph Church at 426 W. 2nd & Maple (May 1 thru last Sunday in October) and switches to Annunciation Church at 609 Poplar St. (First Sunday in Nov thru April 30).
