Written by Justin Talbot this recent release is touted as a celebration of Leadville area rock climbs and features over 300 climbing routes and 150 boulder problems. Some of the areas include Monitor Rock, the East Side of Hagerman Pass, Popular BV Crags and Boulders, and the Finnback Crags in the Mosquito Range.

Class About Area Glaciers Offered By Dr. Matthews

Now for those who may enjoy simply looking at Colorado’s beautiful rocks instead of climbing them, then an upcoming Colorado Mountain College (CMC) class might be more your pace. If you’re interested in learning something about the glaciers of Lake, Summit & Eagle Counties, why not learn from the best? Former state Geologist and Leadville resident Dr. Vince Matthews is leading two continuing education classes – the Glaciers of Lake County and the Glaciers of Summit and Eagle Counties. Never look at this region’s scenic beauty the same way again.

Dr. Matthews has taught at five different institutions of higher education, holding tenure at two. He was the State Geologist of Colorado and Director of the Colorado Geological Survey. He is Senior Author of the multiple-award-winning book “Messages in Stone– Colorado’s Colorful Geology” and compiler of “A Tourist Guide to Colorado Geology.” Matthews does daily postings at Leadville Geology on Facebook that is followed by people in 44 countries.
