What? You Haven’t Been Fishing Yet? Well, C’mon Now!

COFlyFishingGuides_LeadvilleTodayThe season’s ticking along, so if you haven’t put your pole in the water, be it lake, stream, or creek, now’s the time to increase your odds of bringing something home for the frying pan!

Sounds like a good time to check in with Tim Hill with Colorado Fly Fishing Guides located in downtown Leadville.

Upper Arkansas River (Between Leadville and Buena Vista)

Stone flies, caddis and yellow sallies are still the main hatches on the upper river.  There are also smatterings of quills, pmd, and drakes in the meadows.  Flows continue to fall and clarity is not an issue.  Dry/dropper rigs are the ticket with small attractors or parachute patterns on top, and small sally or mayfly nymphs taking fish on the dropper.  Conditions are very favorable on the upper river right now!

The high alpine lakes near Leadville are prime fishing right now, and new this season Colorado Fly Fishing Guides is guiding two of them! Book your backcountry trip to Hagerman Lake or Virginia Lake and have a chance to immerse yourself in the beauty of the Colorado high country!

Also new this season, we offering guided day hikes on the Colorado Midland Centennial Trail.  With all of the rain this season the wildflowers are amazing and are included with your hike!  Call for details.
