Cowboy Mounted Shoot at Rodeo Grounds Sat & Sun

Today and tomorrow, August 15 & 16, the Cowboy Mounted Shoot will take place at the Lake County Rodeo Grounds. Produced by Colorado Mounted Thunder and sponsored locally by Dietrich Construction Company, this two-day, timed event runs competitors though a pattern while firing a pistol from the saddle.

The three divisions are Wrangler (up to 12 years), the Open and Senior (50+), with male and female divisions. Both morning’s registration will begin at 8 a.m., closing at 9:30 a.m. There will be a riders meeting at 9:45 a.m. and shoot will start at 10 a.m. The event is free and open to the public. There will also be concessions available Saturday and Sunday.

Colorado Mounted Thunder is a family club dedicated to the fast-growing sport of Mounted Shooting.  This weekend’s event in Leadville is sanctioned by the Colorado Mounted Shoot Association as part of their Battle of the Mines series. The Lake County Rodeo Grounds are located at the corner of W. 6th and McWethy, adjacent to the Community Park.
