Two Weeks Until Election: Voter Registration Reviewed
Two weeks and counting until Election Day, November 3! Last week, Mail-In Ballots hit registered voters mailboxes. And yesterday, Leadville Today received the following letter from Lake County Clerk and Recorder Patty Berger whose office conducts local elections.
And now here’s the third Leadville Today Political Round Up. This week, the spotlight is on the candidates. Locally, all candidates are for city positions, except for four Board of Trustee Directors positions for Colorado Mountain College. In fact, four of the six city positions are being filled, uncontested.
The “Meet The Candidates” Night was held on Tuesday, Sept. 28. This annual event is presented by the Leadville/Lake County Chamber of Commerce and hosted at Colorado Mountain College in Leadville and allows for an introduction of candidates and ballot issues for voters. Leadville Today was there to record the discussions.
Please note that these video recordings have been edited – for time – due to intermittent pauses for organizational points of order and some technical difficulties with audio during the presentations. That said, the videos present the discussions pretty much in their entirety.
In the second video, Leadville City Council Candidates for Ward 1 Shoshanah Beck and Steven R. Prestach discuss their backgrounds, what issues Leadville currently faces and why voters should cast their ballots for them.
In this final video, are opening statements and answers to questions from Moderator Bob Hartzell for all of the uncontested city positions, including Leadville City Clerk, and City Council seats in Wards 2 & 3. There was no representation for the position for City Treasurer, which has only one candidate, current Leadville Mayor Jaime Stuever.
And finally the lone candidate for Colorado Mountain College Board of Trustees, District 6 is Pat Chlouber of Leadville, this is one of three uncontested races for the four Directors to be seated.
