Okay, so this golden oldie might not be on the cheer list, but no doubt there will be some good old fashioned shouting and clapping going on this Friday at the Pep Rally for the high school Leadville Racing cycling team. These student athletes are coming off their best team performance of the year at the Chalk Creek Stampede in Nathop on October 9, as they heading to Eagle for the State Championships this weekend. So grab your pom-poms and team spirit and head on down to the Leadville Trail 100 office at 213 Harrison Avenue this Friday at 6:30 p.m. Coaches Bruce and Stacy Kelly will introduce the Leadville Racing team members, give out a few season awards, and a big send off as the team heads off to state. Refreshments will be served.

“This coming weekend, I think the team is primed to have a great result in all categories,” said Leadville Racing team coach Bruce Kelly who manages the team with his wife Stacy. “Many team members had their best race in Nathrop.”Spac_50

Halloween Happenings – Spooky, Festive Fun Ahead!

Local Halloween festivities are already underway, so it’s time to make that costume choice and then plan to attend Leadville’s spooky, fall festivities!

This Saturday, Oct. 24 is the annual Pumpkin Patch to be held from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the 6th Street Gym. Now in its 15th year, the Pumpkin Patch has become a Leadville tradition, being passed down as readily as those Halloween costumes!

Don’t miss out on the Penny Pitch, Costume Contest and everybody’s favorite, face-painting! pumpkin patch 2014_EnglishThey will also have a bouncy house this year, so children are encouraged to wear costumes that are easy to move around in if they want to bounce safely with friends. 

There will also be lots of baked good, celebrating the fall season!  This is a family-friendly event with games starting at 50 cents, prizes, costumes and more!  Admission is Free. In addition will also be pumpkins for sale, and pony rides for the kiddos!
