Then next week, 12 students with the Lake County High School (LCHS) Chamber Choir will be touring to New York City from March 16 – 20. As part of an invitation-only event, the singers will be performing at Carnegie Hall under the direction of Dr. Anton Armstrong who is the Director of Choral Activities at St. Olaf College.

The event is a national invitational organized by Choirs of America (COA), whose mission seeks to significantly increase the quality of choral music education and experience for participating choirs.

“This is an exciting opportunity for these students to display their talents on a national level,” said LCHS vocal music director Scott Carroll.

The trip will also include some guided tours for the students to discover the city’s attractions like Central Park, Chinatown, the Empire State Building, attending the Broadway show “The Phantom of the Opera,” a tour of Ground Zero, 9/11 Memorial and a dinner cruise!
