Change In The Weather: Spring Storm Moves Though
Roping and Riding Fundraiser for Leadville Churches
There are a couple church fundraisers coming up this weekend. Both look like a lot of fun, especially in the “shoulder” season when there’s not too much going on.
If steer-wrangling is your passion, then consider the drive over to Fairplay to see the “Gran Coleadero,” tomorrow Saturday, April 30 starting at 10 a.m. While some may describe this event as a rodeo, it’s so much more than that!
The event will take place on the arena grounds of Martin Saucedo, whom many are familiar with as a keen horseman and Leadville Ski Joring competitor. Lienzo Charro de Martin Saucedo is located at 334 Thousand Peaks Ranches in Fairplay, Colo.
The “Dia del Nino” Celebration will include music by two bands – Tamboroza Chalchis, and Banda La Rifdora – playing tamborazo which is a music genre consisting mainly of drums. in addition event attendees can find some incredible Mexican dishes, and lots of family-friendly fun. For more information call Martin at 970-390-1896 or Joel at 970-485-9224.
This event is a fundraiser for Holy Family Parish, which serves the Leadville Catholic community. Monies raised will be put towards the Church Building Fund which continues to raise money to address aging church and building issues. Admission is $10 for women, $20 for men and children are free.
Rock and Roll for Jesus Saturday at St. George’s Church
This Saturday, April 30, there will be a benefit concert at St George Church located at 200 W 4th Street in Leadville.
One of Leadville’s favorite local bands 24 West will be rocking the rafters and rolling in the pews, with the music starting at 7 p.m. There will be a $15 admission fee which will benefit the St. George Community Meal Program.
