Celebrating All Cultures in America’s Highest City
It takes all kinds, all cultures to make life happen at 10,200 feet in North America’s Highest City. And since Leadville has been known to like a good parade and party, residents and visitors enjoying fall colors can do just that.
Whether it’s Salud! Prost! Slainte! It’s glasses raised for celebrating and sharing Leadville’s cultural heritage and pride.
Last weekend it was the inaugural Fiesta In The Clouds – que bueno! – marking National Hispanic Heritage Month.
This Saturday, Sept. 24 locals and visitors will be celebrating the town’s German heritage with Oktoberfest (see event details below).
Then it’s Colorado Irish History Weekend, – Sept. 29 – Oct. 1 – which will culminate with a Leadville visit from a high-ranking Irish official, some local tours and the ever-popular, quirky Leadville St. Patrick’s Day Practice Parade on Saturday, Oct. 1. Oktoberfest Hits 10,200 Feet on September 24
OOOoompah! That’s what could be heard echoing off Colorado’s two highest peaks as Leadville gears up for its annual Oktoberfest. Hosted by Periodic Brewing, with the Leadville/Lake County Chamber of Commerce the festive fall event will take place next Saturday, Sept. 24 from noon – 10 p.m.
German Craft beer and live music will be the order of the day. Additionally, there will be German style food for purchase. So break out the lederhosen and dirndl costumes!
Periodic Brewing will have a limited number of 1 liter Rastal Isar Tankard glass mugs with “first come, first buy availability.” The special edition liter mug will sell for $20 and comes with 2 pint cards … use both right away to fill it, or one for 1/2 fill and use the other one later. Prost!
