On Saturday, October 29 the Leadville Arts Coalition (LAC) and Harperrose Studios will feature Leadville photographer, Justin Talbot, for “Meet the Artist” from 4-6 p.m. Come and discover the wonders of Leadville and Lake County through the lens of an outdoor enthusiast.

Talbot has compiled a stunning book, Leadville Collection Vol. 01, filled with his visual work.  He divided his images into four seasons: Winter/Spring/Summer/Fall, each filled with black/white and color photos. Talbot focused his camera lens on modern Leadville outdoor athletes pursuing their sports, with local mining ruins, and Lake County’s natural environs as remarkable backdrops.  He has included numerous street shots, and stunning visuals of our backyard wonders, such as Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive.  About fifteen locals, friends and co-workers, play a role as featured athletes.

Talbot’s enthusiasm for photography developed long ago. His interest in the Rockies blossomed when Talbot spent six summer seasons working for National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) in the Wind River Range, Wyo. in the summer. An avid rock climber, Talbot moved with the sun to the NOLS program in Tuscon during the winters. After getting his graduate degree in experiential education, he accepted a position as Director of Wilderness Programs at High Mountain Institute, moved to Leadville, and presently shares his outdoor enthusiasm with his family, the High Mountain Institute (HMI) staff and students.

After working at HMI for ten years, Talbot took a four month sabbatical, and he used this time to focus on photography.  An active local outdoorsman, Talbot chose Lake County for his canvas. See more of his work at 40minutesfromleadville.com .

On Saturday, October 29 everyone is invited to meet Leadville’s talented artist: Justin Talbot, and celebrate his photographic accomplishments.  In addition to his book, Talbot’s displayed images include framed prints, note cards, and a 2017 calendar.  All of these will be offered for sale at Harperrose Studios: Gallery and Goods located at 601 Harrison Avenue.
