Sound the Alarm: Emergency News in Leadville Today

The Leadville Lake County Fire Rescue (LLCFR) in partnership with the American Red Cross is offering a FREE smoke detector as part of the Home Fire Campaign. In this Leadville Today video Fire Marshall Steve Boyle explains the details and where people can call for more information.

The Red Cross Home Fire Campaign aims to reduce death and injury by installing free smoke alarms for those who need them.  Did you know?

  • You have as little as two minutes to safely escape a burning home
  • On average, seven people die every day in the United States from a home fire
  • A working smoke alarm can cut the risk of death from a home fire in half

To help save lives, the Red Cross and the LLCFR are installing free smoke alarms in homes that need them. Residents throughout Lake County can get free smoke alarms in their home by calling (719) 486-2990. There are no more excuses! Call to set up your appointment – it’s FREE!

Lake County Search and Rescue Fundraiser on May 12

Mark the calendar for May 12 because this fundraiser event is one not to be missed as the Lake County Search and Rescue (SAR) crew comes together to raise money and volunteers. SAR will be having a community “Open House / Appreciation Night” on Friday May 12, at 7p.m. @ Verte x Workspace (1205 Harrison Avenue).  It’s a great way for the community to come find out more about what Search and Rescue does. Drinks and Dessert will be provided and there will be a raffle of some cool items from around the community.
