Car Rally for Rovers in Leadville
Lake County residents will see a surge in Land Rovers about town this week, as one of the largest rally events for the four-wheel vehicles comes to the Leadville area this Monday – Thursday, July 24 – 28. The Solihull Society will be hosting the 2017 Land Rover National Rally touting the gathering as one of “the largest event in many years.”
The Solihull Society, founded in 1991, is a Land Rover club serving Colorado and vicinity. Membership is open to all Rover enthusiasts (whether you own a Rover or not). The club is devoted to providing a social forum for Rover enthusiasts, several off-road events per year, a quarterly newsletter, and education about Rovers and their maintenance.
The Solihull Society is committed to the enjoyment, sharing of goodwill and fellowship engendered by owning a Land Rover or other four wheel-drive vehicle to engage in social, educational, and recreational activities which adhere to the Tread Lightly principles. The Club is also committed to supporting Civic activities for the betterment of the community and betterment of the environment that we use for these activities.

Wildflower Train on Saturday
#AllAboard for a trip to Mother Nature’s alpine garden which is coming into peak season in the high country. This Saturday, July 29 the Leadville, Colorado and Southern Railroad will host the first of its three upcoming Wildflower and Photo Special rides. Join their experienced wildflower tour guides for a 20-minute hike through pine forests, aspen groves and open meadows. View a multitude of varieties of wildflowers at the water tower. Some flowers sighted include Indian Paintbrush, Lupine and wild strawberries. You may find anything from the “local” deer to a mushroom in a wet marsh. Remember hiking shoes, a water bottle and camera. The train ride will depart at 10 a.m. and arrive back at the depot at 1 p.m. This hike is for people of all capabilities and interests please. Wildflower Specials will be July 22, July 29 and August 5.
