It’s Christmas Weekend in Lead Vegas! Ho! Ho! Ho!
Good Afternoon from Lead Vegas where we’re getting a late start in Leadville Today, because it is the holidaze season. If you’ve got relatives in town or you’re visiting America’s Highest City over the long Christmas weekend, here’s the run-down on some specials and who will be open for Christmas. Make it a good one and be sure to spread a little peace and joy wherever you go, there are already enough Grinches out there!
Friday, December 22
The Pastime Bar & Cafe ( 120 W. 2nd St.) will be offering a Special Friday Night Dinner starting at 7 p.m. They will be offering Chicken Cordon Bleu, served with rice, a fresh salad and dinner roll. Each special entree will come with one of their new signature drinks. Plan to stay late and have some laughs or join the fun for prizes at their annual Ugly Sweater Party, starting at 9 p.m. Girl Play DJ will be kicking up that legendary dance floor!
Saturday, December 23
Ski Cooper will be open and offering some Apres Ski live music with Ned Warner & Steve McCauley from 3 – 5 p.m. at Katie O’Rourke’s Pub in the lodge.
Leadville’s legendary Mexican Food hot spot, The Grill (715 Elm Street) will be open on Saturday night for their regular hours, however, take note they are closed Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, but will re-Open Tuesday Dec.26 right through Monday – New Year’s Day !
O2 by Periodic Brewing (401 Harrison Ave) Leadville’s favorite oxygen bar on the corner of 4th and historic Harrison Avenue is having a Holiday Onesie Party from 5 – 11 p.m.
Sunday, December 24 – Christmas Eve
La Resistance and Wilde’s Green Hour (313 Harrison Ave) will be open until 2 p.m. Stop in for their show-stopping brunch, served everyday (except Christmas)
Periodic Brewing (115 E 7th St.) will be opening just before Bronco game kick off at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Christmas Eve, for drinks with food available beginning at noon.Ski Cooper will be hosting a Christmas Eve celebration. Carolers will entertain in the lodge from noon – 1 p.m. Santa will be skiing out at Cooper and be available for photos from 1 – 2 p.m. in the lodge.
The Pastime Bar & Cafe (120 W. 2nd St.) will be open on Christmas Eve for regular business hours serving burgers and beer from noon until the bar closes. If you’re looking to experience an old-fashioned Victorian Christmas in one of Leadville’s most historic bars, this is the place!
Treeline Kitchen (615 Harrison Ave.) will be open Christmas Eve with their normal dinner service, but they’ve got some lovely specials planned such as lobster, scallops, lamb, elk, etc. The treeline Kitchen’s regular hours are 3:30 – 9 p.m., except for Christmas Day they will be closed. But, visitors take note because they offer a large format take-away menu that has the option of the full Christmas dinner. Everything is packaged in oven-heatable containers for those who want to order ahead and then heat and serve at home.
Monday Christmas Day December 25
Cookies With Altitude (717 Harrison Ave.) will have normal hours of 5 a.m. -5 p.m. every day except Monday. Christmas Day they will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 pm. Cookies will be offering fun, festive items everyday throughout the holidays.
Christmas Day, Community Feast at St. George Episcopal Church (200 W. 4th St.) begins at 11:30 a.m. Christmas Eve Candlelight Service begins at 7 p.m.
The Silver Dollar Saloon (315 Harrison Ave) will be offering the best deal around for Christmas Day. From 2 – 4 p.m. they will be serving a full buffet including goose, a locally donated ham and all the fixings and trimming for FREE! So if you don’t have a place to go, or maybe you’re working on that day, head on down to Leadville’s Legendary Irish Saloon and celebrate the spirit of Christmas with the locals! Of course, you have to buy your own drinks, but for the price of the feast, why not a round?
Ski Cooper is open Christmas Day which means that Katie O’Rourke’s is also open for food service and drinks.
