Cheers to the New Year’s Eve “Lead Vegas” Report
This Sunday, Leadville’s neon lights will shine bright beckoning in the New Year. Here’s the annual Lead Vegas New Year’s Eve report about what’s going on in and around Leadville this Sunday, Dec. 31. Happy 2018!
Starting with the new kid on the block, the Treeline Kitchen opened in downtown Leadville this past summer and will be ringing in their Leadville success with a big splash. While their regular dinner service on Sunday, Dec. 31 will be available until 10 p.m., the NYE Party will start after that. Open to the 21+ crowd, for $49 per person, Treeline will offer bottomless champagne, heavy appetizers, and party favors, all leading up to the countdown to Midnight. It’s reserved/limited seating, with advance tickets available for those who would like to guarantee a spot. The Treeline Kitchen is located at 615 Harrison Avenue in the Sayer McKee Plaza.
When it comes to all out Midnight Madness, the The Scarlet Tavern will be the spot of choice, especially among the younger rebel-rousers. This year, their annual New Year’s Eve party will include a show by the band “Horizon Line,” and it’s the only live music you’ll find in Lead Vegas this NYE. This energetic Rocky Mountain rock & roll, 5-piece band offers their own distinct sound, playing all of your favorite rock and jam band covers, as well as a selection of original songs inspired by high-country living. They call Leadville home, so you’re likely to see some familiar faces. The Scarlet’s champagne toast, and balloon drop is one of the best in town and the place is usually packed. The Scarlet is located at 326 Harrison Ave. in downtown Leadville.
The Historic Pastime Bar & Cafe is holding a “Decade” New Year’s Eve party. Dress up as your favorite decade and maybe it’ll inspire DJ Girl Play to spin a memorable tune from your best throwback times. It’ll be a blast from the past as party-goers remember where they were when the first heard songs from all decades. They will be giving away prizes for best costumes. The Pastime is at 120 West 2nd Street and is the last remaining saloon on Old State Street, Leadville’s notorious Red Light District.
Ski Cooper, located 13 miles north of Leadville will be celebrating its 75th Anniversary in 2018 with a special New Year’s Eve fete on Sunday, Dec. 31. Of course the mountain will be open all day to skiers and boards, but stick around for the party. The merriment starts at 3 p.m. with live music by Trading Fours at Katie O’Rourke’s Irish Pub located in the lodge. The celebration will include a torchlight parade at 6 p.m., birthday cake, and all the party favors necessary to usher in their 75th year in proper fashion. Happy Anniversary!
If you like your New Years Eve straight up without too much fanfare, then head over to the corner of 7th and Harrison Avenue where The Manhattan will be ringing in 2018 in its typical understated style.
Yes, they’ll be a champagne toast at midnight and you could find a party favor or two, but the music selection will be subject to whoever’s racking up the credits on the juke box. The only cherry on The Hat’s New Year’s Eve party is that the lovely Jasmine will be serving up your cocktails. Come and ring in 2018 with the hard core, longtime locals. It could be just the thing you need to shake things up in the New Year!
