Jazz Ensemble Plays Sunday, Cooper Apres Ski Line-Up

It’s time to strike up the band and celebrate spring because the hills are alive with the sound of music! 

This week, Ski Cooper moves head-on into Spring Break with not only a fantastic $30 Thursday deal, but some great Après Ski music lined up as well. On Thursday, March 21 it’s the Dennis Solo Show. dennis swing crew

Once you’re done swooshing down the slopes, try swinging into the evening with some toe-tappin, knee-slapping good tunes at Katie O’Rourke’s Pub in the Ski Cooper Lodge from 3 – 5 p.m.

Straight from Wisconsin is The Swing Crew’s front man to Dennis Reifsteck who sings, plays the string bass, the violin and the saw. It’s a fun afternoon  of country, swing, island beat, rockabilly, rock and roll and a humorous collection of novelty tunes. The pied piper of the group, Reifsteck sings, plays the string bass, the violin and the saw.

Then on Saturday, March 24, local favorite and internationally renowned musician, recording artist and performer Leon Joseph Littlebird will be offering his musical musings at Katie’s for Après Ski from 3 – 5 p.m. A third generation native of Colorado with ancestral roots in both Pioneer & Native American cultures his multi-instrumentalist style is called: Native Colorado Music.

Jazz Ensemble Plays Old Church on Sunday

The Colorado Mountain College (CMC) Jazz Ensemble marks its 13th Season in 2018 with a special performance of jazz music, including a drop dead arrangement of the the old classics.  The group will be performing an afternoon show in the Old Church at the corner of W. 8th and historic Harrison Avenue in downtown Leadville, on Sunday March 25, starting at 2 p.m.

The Old Church in downtown Leadville will set the stage for next CMC JaZz Project performance tomorrow Monday, June 12 at 7 p.m.!

The CMC Jazz Ensemble is made up of a combination of musicians, young and old, some who are students enrolled in Colorado Mountain College, area high school students, and many community members drawn from Salida, Buena Vista, Leadville, and some from Cotopaxi and Colorado Springs.

Music for this concert could include some from their collection of “Favorites” like “Stars and Stripes Forever,” a New Orleans Dixieland styling of “Just A Closer Walk, ”  “Bewitched,” “Laura,” “Makin’ Whoopee,” “Every Time I Feel the Spirit,” “Ain’t That A Kick In the Head” and much more. Come out and support your local and regional musicians!

Concerts are free and open to the public but donations are accepted, all of which goes directly to support this performance group. Start your spring off with some great music!
