All Aboard for BBQ & Fall Colors Weekends

Coming off of a busy summer season to date, the Leadville Colorado and Southern Railroad has shifted its gears to its one-a-day schedule. During the weekdays – Monday thru Friday – the train provides daily trips at 1 p.m. On the weekends the popular attraction still maintains it’s two trips at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., with special Fall Photo Weekends planned for September 8 & 9, September 15 & 16, and September 22 & 23.

The BBQ Train leaves the station this Friday, August 31. Visit www.leadvillerailroad.com.

One noteworthy special ride is the Devils ClimaxTail BBQ Train Ride on Friday, Aug. 31. This ride goes to the end of the line, giving passengers a vantage point and view they don’t get to see on the regular train ride. Add to that some award-winning BBQ for an evening ride and it’s #AllAboard for the last hurrah of summer! Please note that this ride usually sells out, and was getting close to hat at the time of this posting, so make your reservations today. The Leadville, Colorado and Southern Railroad closes for the season in early October, with its last trip on Sunday, Oct. 7.

Train enthusiasts looking to ride for a cause should note the annual Grapes and Grains on Rails Fundraiser for the Advocates of Lake County will be an evening ride and include some brews from Periodic Brewing, other libations provided by Mt Massive Liquors and catering by SODEXO.

Tickets are still available at $40/adults and $30/children under 10 years and can be purchased Tickets are at the train depot, the chamber or call Elsa Tharp at 303-478-1512. Proceeds benefit victims of domestic violence in Lake County.  This special ride is one of many local fundraisers that the train partners with and another great example of local philanthropy!aspen-fall_train
