Twin Lakes Celebrates The Season
Just because Independence Pass is closed for the season doesn’t mean there’s nothing going on in southern Lake County. Sure, things slow down, but with more residents choosing to live year-round in Twin Lakes, the tiny mountain village doesn’t get “put to bed” for the winter as it used to years ago.
And thanks to the Friends of Twin Lakes, there are some upcoming holiday events to be considered for your seasonal entertainment. “This Wonderful Life” the one-man show starring Jim Leaming will be presented at the Twin Lakes Schoolhouse (231 Lang) on Saturday, Dec. 29 and Monday, Dec. 31, with both shows starting at 7 p.m. Relive the heartwarming story of George Bailey and the effect his life has on the others around him. Jim brings to life George Bailey, Clarence, Mr. Potter, Mary and others from the community of Bedford Falls. Following the show, the bar at the Twin Lakes Inn will be open for approximately two hours for holiday cheer and merriment.
The cost is $20 per ticket ($15 for the cost of the show and the other $5 from each ticket is being donated to Friends of Twin Lakes). For purchase, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org for an initial ticket reservation. Or mail your check or money order to Friends of Twin Lakes, 231 Lang St., Twin Lakes, CO 81251. The Friends will provide tickets at the show that you can use for tax records for the $5 donation on each ticket. Space is limited to 52 seats per night due to occupancy restrictions.
A Sneak Peak to “This Wonderful Life.”
Come for the Show, Stay for the Weekend
For those fans interested in making it a New Years weekend getaway, you can also book a room at the Twin Lakes Inn. While the lodging establishment is generally closed during the colder months, the inn will be offering a special lodging rate of only $60/night, on a first come, first served basis for rooms booked December 29 – 31, 2018. Sounds the like a great way to ring in the New Year! But act fast because these rooms won’t last long at that price! Please contact the Twin Lakes Inn at (719) 486-7965 to reserve a room or email: email@example.com.
While “This Wonderful Life” will be performed Saturday and Monday, sandwiched in between will be Brunch and Theater on Sunday, Dec. 30 at the Twin Lakes Inn. Enjoy a very intimate theater reading after a delightful brunch at the Inn. Jim Leaming and Carmen Roman (Jim’s wife) will do a fireside reading of “The Botanic Garden.” The play was review by the Chicago Theater Review as “ a play about life, about coping with the comedy and tragedy of living; it’s a drama laced with wit and humor, insight and wisdom.”
The two-hander play premiered in February 2008 and is a touching exchange before Kate’s first date as a widow (she is desperate to get out of the date). The only person who can help her is Jake, her deceased husband. More details and reviews can be found on the website.
Brunch will be served from noon to 1:30 p.m.; the reading of “The Botanic Garden” starts at 2 p.m. The combined cost for brunch and “The Botanic Garden,” is $30, plus tax and tip. For tickets, contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call the Inn at (719) 486-7965.
