Monday, December 24 – Christmas Eve
Ski Cooper will be hosting a Christmas Eve Celebration out on the mountain from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Christmas carolers will be entertaining in the lodge. Santa will stop into ski with the kids and pose for a few photos. Meanwhile, in town, most Leadville eateries and bars will be open their normal hours on Monday, Christmas Eve, but consider reservations as table service could be at a premium. And don’t forget, the Broncos are playing for Monday night football, so that should keep the beer flowing just in time for Santa Claus to arrive!
Tuesday, Christmas Day – December 25
Cookies With Altitude (717 Harrison Ave.) will be open on Christmas Day from 8 till 1 or 2-ish. Cookies, baked goods, sandos and soups can be found in Leadville’s downtown sweetshop.
While most restaurants and bars will be closed on Christmas so that staff can enjoy the day with their families, The Silver Dollar Saloon (315 Harrison Ave) will be open on Christmas Day, offering the best deal around. Starting at noon, they will be serving a full buffet including all the holiday favorites, for FREE! According to owner Eric Johns, the generous feasts “lasts as long as it lasts.” So if you don’t have a place to go, or maybe you’re working on that day, head on down to Leadville’s Legendary Irish Saloon and celebrate the spirit of Christmas with the locals! Of course, you have to buy your own drinks, but for the price of the feast, why not around?
Ski Cooper is open Christmas Day which means that the Cooper Cafeteria, Katie O’Rourke’s, and the Ridgeview café – if you’re skiing – will be open for eating and drinking.
