Dust off your cowboy hat and polish those boots. Not only will this weekend bring horses, cowboys, high-stakes bidding and roped skiers to historic Harrison Ave., but also live music, good food, and unbridled dancing. Above all, Leadville Ski Joring (LSJ) is a celebration, one that only comes once a year, and there will be no shortage of venues to party in Cloud City’s Wild West sports show. Here’s what’s on the Lead Vegas docket this weekend:

Friday, March 3

It’s a beer and a movie night at Periodic Brewing. Located at 115 E. 7th Street, Leadville’s one and only brewery will be hosting the 12th Annual Backcountry Film Festival on Friday, March 3rd to benefit the Colorado Mountain Club‘s Backcountry Snowsports Initiative. This will be hosted upstairs, with the show starting at 7 p.m. and going til 9 p.m. Tickets will be sold online and at the door, with Colorado Mountain Club Members paying $10, and non-members paying $12. At The Scarlet bar, its local band Lake County Rain who will be performing Friday night from 8 p.m. – 1 a.m. Lake County Rain presents “a refreshing mountain town take on local Americana, Rock, and Country music.” The Scarlet is located right on the LSJ course on the corner of 4th and Harrison. Celebrate the one-year ownership anniversary at the Historic Pastime Bar& Cafe all weekend, with giveaways and food and drink specials. Friday night starting at 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Spanish band Persuasion will be playing spanish, rock, country and oldies. Must be 21 with a valid I.D. to attend.

Wilde’s Green Hour will be hosting a Friday Night Fish Fry from 4 p.m. – 11 p.m. Leadville’s speakeasy is located at 313 Harrison Ave.

Saturday & Sunday, March 4 & 5

The Elks Lodge #236 is always the place of the big country western dance on Saturday night and will be again this year. It’s a live band and the lodge will be open to the public so dust off that cowboy hat and polish up them old boots, its swing time! The lodge will also be hosting its Ski Joring breakfast downstairs in the lodge on Saturday and Sunday from 7 – 11 a.m. Eight bucks will get you all the pancakes and other breakfast fare you can eat! The lodge will also have something going for lunch on both days, so there’s no need to be going hungry.

The Lions Club tent will be at West 6th and Harrison all weekend serving brats, wieners, hot chocolate, cider, sodas. and blueberry soup.  

Saturday night from 9 p.m. – 1:30 a.m. the Pastime will have K-BASH, featuring karaoke with local favorite Girl Play from 9 p.m. – 1:30 a.m. They will be raffling a K2 COORS snowboard provided by Coors and Mtn. Beverage. Drawing will be at midnight, must be present to win.

The Scarlet has live music scheduled all weekend. On Saturday catch Backyard Beserker from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. and The Well Beings (formerly known and loved in Leadville as Down2Funk) from 9 p.m. – 2 a.m. On Sunday, The Outliers will play from 1 – 4 p.m. closing out the weekend.

Periodic Brewing is celebrating with $1 off all beer flights, and with a 90s throwback jam by The Trash Pandas on Saturday, March 4 from 4 – 6 p.m. and 8 – 9 p.m.

At La Resistance/Wilde’s Green Hour, make it out to live music from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. by jazz-trio Pitch Black, and for Sunday Brunch 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. with live music by Rick Weingarten. 

Other locations open for business are The Grill Bar & Cafe at 715 Elm St., taking reservations and with a happy hour from 4 – 6 p.m., The Manhattan Bar right on Harrison Ave., Tennessee Pass Cafe at the south end of the course, and O2 by Periodic Brewing.  

Party safe out there cowpoke. Don’t get caught with a dog, a drone, or a DUI or you’ll be in the stockade!
