Spac_50Twin Lakes Seminar: “Primer on Islam”

First things first for this program being offered at Twin Lakes later this month by local resident and expert Dr Ahmad Ghais: he does not condone terrorism.

The Twin Lakes Schoolhouse will be the location of the "Primer on Islam" seminar.

The Twin Lakes Schoolhouse will be the location of the “Primer on Islam” seminar on October 29.

Now that’s out of the way, for those interested in learning more about “Islamist Extremism”  you are invited to a seminar on “Primer on Islam.” This leading expert and Lake County resident for many years has presented such information to groups off and on since the tragic events of 9/11. Much has happened since then.

To better understand this evolution, it’s necessary to recall the basics of the religion of Islam, as well as the historic evolution of Islamic and Arabic culture, focusing primarily on interaction with the West. During his discussion Dr. Ghasi will focus on the “Why” in discussing basic questions:

  • Abrahamic Monotheism: Judaism, Christianity and Islam
  • What is Islam; who is a Muslim?
  • Islamic resources: Qur’an, Hadith, Sirah, Sunnah
  • Essential duties of Muslims: obligations and prohibitions
  • Tolerance and compulsion in Islam
  • What is Jihad, Ijtihad
  • Women, sex and slavery in Islam
  • War of Islamic succession: Shi’sm
  • Is Islam the Enemy?

This seminar is free and open to the public. It will be held at the Twin Lakes Schoolhouse starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29. Bring your friends, and learn more about this relevant topic!
