November 1, 2018 – marks seven years for Leadville Today (LT) publishing daily news and information serving Leadville and Lake County, Colorado. And to celebrate that milestone we are excited to announce the launch of the newly designed website! Say hello to LTv.2!
This newly designed website presents a completely new look for regular LT readers. The design palette went from black to white, with blue highlights. While some may still favor the old look, certain design upgrades allow us to take the site to the next level. It also integrates with Google and other web interfaces in a more efficient manner.
The new layout offers more opportunities to give those beautiful scenic shots the screen space they deserve. After all, everywhere you turn in Leadville Today there’s a screen-saver shot waiting to be taken. So all of you Leadville Today photography contributors keep them coming and LT will give you a new, high-tech platform to display them on! Pssst, and wait until you see the ecommerce opportunities coming down the road for LTv.3!
We hope you enjoy the new uncluttered design that is easy to navigate, and more user-friendly.
The site contains integrated social media buttons for Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram to foster improved communication with the readers. We will be constantly updating our content with helpful information, articles, and news briefs, in the Headline News section.
We have redesigned it with you – the Leadville Today reader – in mind, streamlining menus, simplifying navigation, building a responsive layout for all platforms and providing more resources and information for local news.
We encourage everyone to visit and explore the site, discovering the full spectrum of new pages.
Call to Action. These three words are so essential in today’s digital world. News posts are nice to read and photos are lovely to look at, but a call to action is also an important part of the experience. In other words, the best way to help Leadville Today to grow, improve, and continue to be a voice for Leadville and Lake County is to Subscribe, Share and Advertise. Taking a look back at the original YouTube promo produced for the launch of Leadville Today on November 1, 2011 it’s clear that readers and viewers have taken ownership. Thanks for all your support through the years! It wouldn’t be Leadville Today without you!
You may have noticed the Leadville Today tagline: With the history of Leadville in our hearts and the future of Leadville in our hands. It genuinely evokes the LT vision. There is so much rich treasure in Leadville’s one-of-a-kind history. It’s important that it’s not pushed aside dismissively as new people and ideas arrive and make their home in Leadville Today. Leadville’s rough-and-tumble heritage not only defines the rough and disorderly life that can often be discovered at 10,200 feet, but it also carved out some of the state’s most innovative leaders. These are the folks that put the “Lead” in Leadville.
And while Leadville continues to carve its latest vein with the recent boom of activity, it’s imperative that long-timers and newcomers understand what it takes to create a vision for the future. Oh, it’s easy to step out with vision and emotion and start a business, build a playground, save a historic building. However the successful person will add hard work, dedication, and continue to do it when even when they don’t feel like it, sometime for weeks or months. Thankfully, we are reminded of that simple, strong work ethic regularly in Leadville Today.
One of the original goals for Leadville Today, albeit a bit further down on the list, was to create a platform to help small businesses, crafts people, artists, photographers, authors develop an eCommerce plan. There’s a lot of great talent in Leadville and Lake County and sometimes those creative types just need a simple digital online platform to conduct business. The traffic is already there, why not build a bridge to the local talent. So stay tuned for information about that opportunity coming sometime in (hopefully) 2019. But the good news is that it’s already built into the new LTv.2 back end. But like all good plans it’s one step at a time.
