Colorado Air National Guard Honors Independence Day with Flyovers
This Independence Day, residents of Colorado can expect a spectacular aerial display alongside their traditional fireworks. The Colorado Air National Guard will showcase its F-16C Fighting Falcons in a series of flyovers across various communities, commemorating the nation’s independence on July 4, 2025.
A Statement of Strength
In a press statement, U.S. Air Force Colonel Carrie Worrell, the commander of the 140th Wing, expressed the significance of this event. “What better way to demonstrate our independence as a nation than with a show of force featuring our mighty F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft as they blaze a trail across the beautiful State of Colorado this Fourth of July,” Worrell said.
She added, “The Colorado Air National Guard proudly defends our state and nation to maintain this wonderful and precious independence, and you will likely hear our ‘sound of freedom’ before you see us.” The flyovers are designed not just to be a visual spectacle but also to remind everyone of the sacrifices made to ensure freedom.

The paths of the aircraft may lead them over different locations as they transition between events. It’s important to note that while the times for the flyovers have been coordinated with event staff, they remain estimates and may be affected by weather conditions.
Additionally, these military flyovers are organized at no expense to taxpayers, as they serve a dual purpose: showcasing the airpower of the Colorado Air National Guard while providing vital training for pilots.
